My Bio

Una Owens was born somewhere, met some people, did some things, but none of that is very interesting. When he was 6 years old, she discovered the magical world of Addanot and soon found herself quite unable to leave. Now she opens that door of escapism to others through feel good stories low in drama and high in a humor of her own design, in hopes that her books will bring some relief from the stress of the day to day. She does not wish her reader to ever take these stories too seriously, she doesn’t.

I am Christian to the core and a fairly religious person therefore I will not put things that contradict my beliefs in my ANY of my art work. No severe language, LGBTQ+, misuse of God's name, or anything overly sensual or inappropriate.

God bless❤

Hello, I'm here for the OC-Training In-Depth Comment about Goaty.

First of all I'm amazed by your vivid, cheerful and consistent style. It developed over years. I can see that you are still using all digital goodies like textures, cropping with uneven selections, multiplying objects or sparkles, but nowadays I think that you do it more subtly, efficiently and I love effects!

Also kudos for making up a main artistic idea of a dairy for entire round and keeping with it through all tasks. I enjoy all variations and extras like different angles of the volume, palms, pen's nib and still it is clear that each piece is a part of a series. Well done!

Then you also put polished background within Roxanne's illustrations. The purpose of each location is clear: the kitchen, the witch chamber, royal's bed, throne room. Moreover you succeed in choosing level of details, so the character stands out. I'm captivated!

I spotted that you draw all walls and furnitures front forward. It is all right and works fine, but in case you like to try something new, please consider turning he location a bit. There are two possible ways. First is to build the place up with ruler tool following perspective principles . The other is to deform background layer with en face depiction from rectangle to trapezoid.

I noticed that you seek for a nice and readable font and its size. Personally I like the choice in "fear" and "anger". I also like the wordcount in latest tasks: there is a decent reading, but short enough to keep my attention and also easy enough for me, a foreigner to understand. Well done!

I also noticed that you've been seeking for a way to draw Goaty. In a picture with Roxanne defeating a dragon I thought she was holding a plush mascot, then there was a "bodytype", in which because of light brown patches I has an associations with a calf. Since chill with Joshua Goaty truly looks like a goat. Especially in "anger" chewing a shoe.

Do you want to take a step further to some realistic appearance? It's a vital question! Your recent depictions of a goat are recognizable, well stylized, I guess also of a good time economy and perhaps you want Goaty to resemble a moody human for some still secret reason. Don't fix what is not broken.

Though if you'd like make him look even more goaty, please consider making his face longer. In foreshortening pay extra attention to a patch, because its shape should follow the perspective. Moreover I think that most goats are quite more stringy - their torso has dimples. If you would make a close up on Goaty, remember about horizontal pupils and even-toed hoof. As icing,

given Goat's age, I think a short beard would be cute.

To check how these ideas may actually work I did quick redlines: https://sta.sh/01c9v03ridt1

Seven submission focussing on Goaty, that you made this round, established him to be consistent character. His nonchalant and stubborn personality shows off! Although I still cheer for Charles to kick the animal out of bed, I can't help liking Goaty. You repeatedly depicted who Goaty is and I would now enjoy to learn more about his motives: why he behaves the way he does?

You do a great job delivering full scenes with a pinch of amusing reading. Inulustrations you succed to draw clearly readable interactions, enjoyable locations and good looking characters. All done with beautiful colours and finished with efficient digital effects. Please keep up the amazing work!

PS My daughter from behind my back is delighted with your Goaty as he is. She likes to tell you that he is "100% perfect"!

Hello~ I'm here for the In-Depth Comment for OC-training. I suppose I'll start off with Queen Roxanne.

She's a pretty interesting OC. I'll admit, when I first read on her profile how much she cares about her image, I was expecting her to be a catty sort of antagonist, and possibly nothing more than a figurehead to her country. Since she is also royalty, I expected her to be rather sheltered and lacking social skills beyond those of the upper class. In fact, I actually pictured her being the type to say something like: "It is no concern of mine whether your family has food. You really should have thought of that before you became peasants." (Yes, that's an Emperor's New Groove reference.)

However, as I got to know Roxanne throughout the OC-training rounds... Yes, her preoccupation with her self image does come up every now and again, but she's so much more than a pretty lady sitting on a throne, barking orders. She actually came from rather humble beginnings and worked her way up the social ladder through her own wit and skills. If she's going to send her armies out to fight an enemy, she's not going to sit all nice and comfy in her castle; she will happily march with her soldiers into battle with all the love and devotion to her country. And I can see her self-image issues aren't some Evil Queen, "Who is the fairest of them all?" type nonsense. She is the queen, so she needs to appear strong and capable. It sort of broke my heart when I learned how she was ashamed of her prosthetic leg and will often fantasize about having her normal leg again. And while she doesn't hate being queen, but over time, she's become disillusioned by the things she's seen or dealt with. I'm glad that she at least has a loving husband and good friends to unwind with. (I was worried that she would be so guarded that she would never show her true feelings.)

As for the art itself... Your backgrounds are pretty awesome. However, I think it would add depth if you added some overlapping features, like some leaves slightly obstructing the branches of a tree, or some smaller cliffs on the sides of mountains. (I'll admit, I don't know how digital art works) I've noticed you tend to use polka dots when it comes to clothing designs. If that's on account of the culture in your story, that's fine, but maybe you could experiment a little more with different prints or patterns. I will say this; you've got glitter and shines down great :D

Enjoy the rest of your day~

Thank you so much for your critique! I will certainly work on trying to add some of those things to my backgrounds:)

Hello there Ling, I’m here this time for the In-Depth Comment for the OC-Training task!

Due already working with you back at the wish art trade, I already learned to know a bit more about your wonderful character, Queen Roxanne!

Speaking of which, I wanna start with her!

First off: I absolutely adore her HUGE wardrobe she has with many outfits in different colors for almost every kind of occasion! You are really talented in drawing and designing dresses because every outfit I have seen of Roxanne is looking individually appealing without getting a glimpse of repeating motifs! And it’s wonderful to see how you can balance out contrasts with Roxanne really well, for example most of her outfits having warm colors like red even if she’s being a cold person and wielding ice powers!

About your art style, I love how you draw dresses and clothes in general and also love how much passion you put into the details! It makes spotting all of them in your artworks so fun! Your anatomy skills are good overall, but one thing I noticed are the face shapes of your different characters looking rather similar, mostly the pointy chins of the characters looking alike. I once learned from tutorials and fashion magazines about different variety of face shapes like oval, round, square or triangular face shapes that really helped me as well to vary character’s face designs. I also do miss the pupils in your characters’ eyes, but I guess it’s intentional for your art style. I think if your characters’ eyes would be more detailed, you could transfer their expressions more easily and intensify them!

In conclusion, you have a lovely art style with lots of details on the characters themselves and Roxanne is a very interesting character, I enjoy learning more about her and the two different stages of her life you are introducing to us simultaneously, that is so clever!

Keep up your lovely work and I think with time there always will be opportunities to improve and grow with the art skills and learning new things!

Thank you so much! Truer words were never spoken about my face shapes all being the same, lol. Sometimes I'll draw an outline of a face and body and ask myself "now who should this be?". I really want to start working on making my characters more diverse and recognizable apart from the hair and basic colors:)

You're welcome! There's always room for learning and improving on specific art things!
